SO YOU WANT TO BE A CERTIFIED PROCESS SERVER

Good Choice. There is no doubt that the Process Server Certification Program is going to play an ever more important role for process servers in Georgia. It therefore behooves every process server to get certified. Problem is there is more to certification than registering to be certified.

CERTIFICATION REQUIRES THE PASSING OF AN EXAM ADMINISTERED BY THE ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICE OF THE COURTS (AOC)

The AOC, as the staff of the Judicial Council of Georgia (JCG), is the agency charged with administering the rules and regulations of the Certification Program. One of its responsibilities is to administer the certification examination. You want to give yourself the best chance to pass the examination because failing should not be an option. The main reason (in addition to it being a pre-requisite to being certified), is that it is expensive. It costs $250 to take the exam. Failure requires a second testing for $125. So, you want to give yourself the best chance to pass the exam. That means picking the Education Provider you believe will give you that best chance.

THE GEORGIA ASSOCIATION OF PROFESSIONAL PROCESS SERVERS (GAPPS) IS THE FIRST PROVIDER AUTHORIZED BY THE AOC TO TEACH THE 12-HOUR PRE-CERTIFICATION CLASSES, AS WELL AS THE ANNUAL 5-HOUR CONTINUING EDUCATION CLASSES

GAPPS has been providing these classes since commencement of the certification program in 2012. There is now only one other provider, AcademyGPPS, which received authorization to provide training in 2017.

GAPPS provides live training for all classes. Students are encouraged to participate and ask questions.

GAPPS provides live presentations with instructors who are members of GAPPS and who specialize in the courses they teach. Every class is different because the laws applicable to process serving are always changing. The courts issue many decisions each year. GAPPS presents those cases that give examples of real situations in which process servers found themselves in unique situations while serving process. These cases are added to the curriculum and thoroughly discussed. Every class is different. We are not locked in to a static on-line program.

GAPPS’ instructors have more than 100 years of process serving experience between them. Because of our experience, the AOC invited us to assist in designing the questions you will find on the exam.

GAPPS is a non-profit professional corporation that exists to insure that Georgia’s process servers are true professionals and highly educated with regard to their responsibilities to their clients and to the Judiciary.

All GAPPS instructors teach on a voluntary basis. They do not get paid. All fees go into the GAPPS treasury and are spent to benefit GAPPS members and all Georgia process servers through legislative lobbying efforts, working with the Georgia Bar Membership in promoting private process servers; and, promoting permanent appointments by meeting with Georgia’s judges and their administrative staffs.

GAPPS representatives are always available, even outside the classroom, to answer questions and provide assistance to Georgia process servers.

GAPPS representatives look forward to answering any other questions that you presently have or which may come up in the future. You can e-mail us through the GAPPS website at the “Contact Page”.
